Quite Possibly the Best Brownies Ever
This is my very favorite brownie recipe. It's the one I take to parties and make for friends, and I always get asked for the recipe.
Recipe: (Printable Recipe Front and Back)
(The recipe makes a 9x13 baking dish full, and the brownies are rich so I typically cut them into small squares- which means I get about 2 dozen brownies in a batch).
2 sticks butter
1 C + 12 oz semisweet chocolate chips (about a bag and a half)
1 1/2 C sugar
4 Lg eggs
1 Tbsp vanilla
1 1/4 C flour
1/2 tsp salt
14 oz caramel, small pieces
1/4 C heavy cream
Line a 9x13 baking dish with parchment paper (if you don't have parchment paper... buy some. It's worth it for this recipe).
Combine 12 oz chocolate and butter. Melt in microwave, in 1 minute increments at about 70%.
Whisk in sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt. Spread 1/2 of the brownie mix into the baking dish.
Bake at 350 for 18 minutes.
Remove from oven. Combine caramels and cream. Melt in microwave (be careful not to burn it!) Spread over the brownie layer and let cool about 20 minutes.
Top with remaining brownie batter. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
Bake 20 minutes.
Cool and refrigerate for a few hours before cutting. Store in an airtight container.
